March 14, 2017

Farmers needing equipment, trucks or land will have a lot to choose from this spring

SASKATOON, March 14, 2017 /CNW/ - Spring is a busy time for auctions in the agriculture industry, as some farmers look to retire while others look to add additional farmland or upgrade their fleets. This spring Ritchie Bros. offers buyers a wealth of choice, with more than 60 farm auctions and thousands of items selling in just two months.

"In farming, the only constant is change and we are committed to being at the forefront of the ever-changing agricultural industry and offering customers unrivalled choice," said Jordan Clarke, Sales Director for Ritchie Bros. "Late last year we added the Kramer Auctions team to the Ritchie Bros. family. The addition of the Kramer team ensures that we will continue to meet the needs of today's agricultural producer for years to come, starting with some standout Kramer auctions this spring."

"We are pleased to be a part of the Ritchie Bros. team—they have the same passion for customers as we do," said Kim Kramer, Territory Manager at Ritchie Bros. and former General Manager of Kramer Auctions. "As we move into our first spring auction season together with Ritchie Bros., we will continue to build on both companies' strong reputations and deep roots in the agricultural auction business and the communities in which we operate."

Equipment highlights in the upcoming Canadian agricultural auctions include 490+ agricultural tractors, 180+ cultivators, 165+ air drills, 155+ combines, 150+ headers, 130+ swathers, 120+ sprayers, 175+ grain trucks, and so much more. Detailed equipment information and high-resolution pictures are available at rbauction.com

"We want to thank all the customers that have entrusted Ritchie Bros. and Kramer Auctions with their retirement dispersals this spring—it's a tremendous responsibility that we take great pride in," added Jordan Clarke. "With more than 60 auctions in less than two months and thousands of items for sale, you will not find a better selection of farm equipment anywhere. We encourage interested bidders to check out the equipment selection on our website, then come out to one of our auctions—it's free to register and every item will be sold unreserved—no minimum bids or reserve prices. We hope to see you at a sale!"

On-the-farm auction highlights

  • Drumheller, AB (March 22) – The Wilson Family: retirement auction for the fourth-generation farm

"We are selling some nice equipment; a lot of it is late-model Case IH gear. I think everyone attending the auction is going to be impressed with the event," said Keith Wilson, owner of Wilson Seed Farm, who will be selling more than 80 items in the Drumheller auction. "We decided to sell with Kramer before they were acquired by Ritchie Bros. and we are still working with the same great people, except now it's even better because we have access to the Ritchie Bros. market."

  • Spruce Grove, AB (April 7) – Horn Ridge Ranch Ltd.: equipment, real estate & livestock auction

"Last year we got out of the grain business, doing a complete dispersal of that operation through Ritchie Bros. This year we are dispersing our cattle operation," said Herb Horn, owner of Horn Ridge Ranch Ltd., who will be selling land, cattle (800 cow calf pairs), and related equipment in the Spruce Grove auction. "It took us many years to get to the quality of cattle we have right now. It's all homegrown cattle and on auction day people will get the opportunity to buy what it took us 20 years to build."

  • Swan River, MB (April 18) Velvet Mountain Farms: complete dispersal auction

"The equipment I'm selling is either brand new or operates like new," said Cliff Penner, owner of Velvet Mountain Farms, who will be selling more than 50 items, including 3 unused 2017 New Holland combines and an unused 2016 V-wing ditcher, in the Swan River auction. "Once my sons decided to quit farming for other ventures I decided it was time to retire and chose Ritchie Bros. because of the exposure they can provide for my equipment. I'm excited—I've always wanted to have an auction."
